The company is owned by and employs veterinary surgeons and as such is regulated in the UK by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons and the Veterinary Medicines Directorate. We only supply products that have been approved for use by the Regulating authorities and that have a current Marketing Authorisation (or licence) for sale in the UK. This means that all of our products have been thoroughly tested for safety and efficacy, to ensure that the likelihood of risk to your animals is minimised.
In order to ensure that they are used correctly, some products require a prescription from a veterinary surgeon before they can be supplied. These are identified within the product listings. It is a requirement for all vets to provide such a prescription if asked to do so and there is a suitable template available here. Vets are entitled to charge reasonably for their professional time when completing a prescription.
If you select a product that requires a prescription you will be notified on screen and we will be unable to supply the item until we have received a valid prescription. Before we supply the item, our vets will check each and every prescription to ensure that it contains the correct information, so that you can have confidence in the knowledge that every possible precaution has been taken.
In most cases, prescriptions are valid for 6 months, but there are exceptions where they are valid for a much shorter period e.g. 28 days or less depending on the medicine. Your vet will state on the prescription how many times it can be repeated without needing a new prescription to be issued. If the prescription states that it is for single use only then we are only allowed to provide the total quantity on a single occasion.
If you have a repeat prescription you can order as and when you need the medication until you have reached the total allowance. Please note that for some medical conditions the animal will need to be seen repeatedly in order to monitor response to treatment and to avoid giving unnecessary or potentially harmful excessive treatment. In such cases your vet is unlikely to supply a repeat prescription without re-examination.
When you have a completed prescription, please post the original to us at:
Unit 1, Mereside Industrial Park,
Shropshire SY13 3PA.
Please do not attempt to re-send the same prescription by altering the date or amending other details. This is not permissible by law and we will not supply medicines against documents that appear to have been tampered with in any way.
